Disney is Missing a Huge Opportunity in Superhero Games
Once upon a time, most big movie releases came hand-in-hand with a video game tie-in. One of the best examples of this was The Lord of the Rings, where each film had a game that put the players into the great moments of the film world. Disney and Marvel have combined to create a phenomenon with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but games appear to have been forgotten.
This is also true to much of the industry – likely due to the majority of Marvel licenses being hoarded by Disney. There are some last bastions of movie superhero gaming out there, but there’s a lot left wanting by fans.
There’s still some out there: slots and more

Across the world of gaming, from consoles to online casinos, there are still a few superhero games that entertain their fans. One of the biggest games right now is Justice League. Even though the movie struggled to win over movie fans, the game appeals to all online casino fans. As detailed by good reviews for casino.com, movie-themed slots available at online casinos are still very popular. These include officially licensed titles such as Justice League and Gladiator, even the Matrix.
By way of video games, superhero games that immerse you in the world have been restricted to Batman and Spider-Man. Luckily, Disney and Marvel don’t wholly own the rights to Spider-Man, so Sony was able to give the rights to Insomniac. The new game is one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2018 – likely because of how unique it is these days.
Huge opportunity being missed by Disney

Disney, in its infinite wisdom, has limited Marvel superhero games to some fighting games, some freemium mobile apps, the Lego games, and some characters on Disney Infinity. None of them delivers an authentic-feeling superhero game.
The immense popularity of Black Panther could have been capitalized on even more with a diversified video game that breaks more barriers. Even a linear story game through the Avengers: Infinity War would have been well-received – or an open-world game where you can select a superhero, use their abilities and develop them, and assemble other superheroes from around the world by completing quests and side quests could easily become the biggest game of all-time.
Made well, with single-player and couch co-op options, a superhero game could be huge. It’s a massive opportunity that’s been missed by Disney.
