Destiny 2 Update Brings Faction Rally Into Game For Everyone
Destiny 2 has been under fire pretty much since launch. The game’s developer, Bungie, made numerous questionable decisions that directly affected players. But what made those players even madder was when Bungie promised to go back on some of these things, and then released a DLC that was even more problematic. For when the Curse of Osiris DLC released, it had a ton of locked content, including some things that should never have been locked by Bungie. Well, now part of that has been fixed.
The game went down for maintenance, and when it returned, Faction Rally came on for everyone to play. The patch notes were nothing special, just simply saying:
“Players who do not own Curse of Osiris now have the ability to earn Season 2 rewards within Faction Rallies and Iron Banner.”
Faction Rally was one of the things that got locked up during the Curse Of Osiris release, so you had to have the DLC to play it and get the new rewards. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case.
The backlash from the Curse of Osiris release was so big that Bungie had to cancel the previously planned Faction Rally event so that things could be adjusted. Other events had to be changed as well so that other players could join in on the fun.
Bungie has said that they’re going to continue to make changes for Destiny 2 to better accommodate players. And while this is a good thing, it’s not going to wipe away the bitterness that has festered in the months since the game’s release. It got so bad that people were making threads (that became very popular) begging people not to buy the game because, in their minds, it was a trap.
Will the game ever truly be what players wanted it to be in the first place? It’s very hard to say. But players should take this one step at a time.
