Bungie has had its fair share of community backlash since the release of Destiny 2. In this particular instance, they are looking to respond by revealing details on the changes being made to exotic weapons.
Exotics are the most powerful sets of weapons in the game, and senior designer Jon Weisnewski has unveiled the methodolgy of making the weaponry more fun for players to use, whilst also bringing much needed balance to them at the same time. One example the senior designer used was based on an exotic pulse rifle known as Graviton Lance, which is one of the game’s more underused weapons. This lance is easy on the eye for sure, but isn’t much fun to use, so the team will be working on making it more powerful, as well as reducing recoil burst and helping out with aim assist.
He has also stated that there are weapons that aren’t currently being looked at for balance changes or otherwise. These weapons include Merciless, Telesto, Wardcliff Coil, MIDA Multi-Tool, Colony, Legend of Acrius, and Vigilance Wing.
Weisnewski commented:
“Dialing in the right amount of power, testing in all activities with all types of load outs, finding the bugs, fixing the bugs, updating the perk description text to reflect new behavior, and then handing that off to localization for translation — it’s a ton of work, but we’re up to it.”
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
