Destiny 2 Going Down For Maintenance Today
To say that Destiny 2 had a very divisive 2017 is an understatement of grand proportions. For while the beginning of 2017 brought the hope of a potential sequel for Destiny, and then a pretty epic reveal, once the game started to be tested by players, things quickly went downhill. The beta was criticized by many for the vast changes that had been put in it. Then, when the game actually released, many complained that this wasn’t Destiny at all, and on and on it went. And it didn’t end for some time.
So, needless to say, Bungie is hoping for a much smoother and calmer 2018, but only three days in and things are already grinding to a halt. As of right now, the game is down for maintenance. Now, it’ll only be down until 12 pm PST time, so it shouldn’t affect you too much, but it is an inconvenience, especially since we don’t actually know what’s being fixed in this time.
We know that there is a hotfix being initiated via this downtime, but aside from that, we don’t know. It’s possible that Bungie will give us some patch notes after the hotfix is done, but only time will tell.
In fact, time will tell a lot of things in regards to how Destiny 2 evolves and grows in 2018. Given how the end of the year went for the game, almost anything would be an improvement. For when “The Curse Of Osiris” DLC arrived in the game, it caused a near revolt in the fanbase because of its locked content. Then, when the Eververse arrived, fans pretty much revolted on how it was treating players.
While it’s true that Destiny 2 was one of the best-selling games of 2017, it was also one that many fans regretted buying, and that’s no compliment. Let’s hope they can turn things around.
