Death Stranding Confirmed For 2019?

For gamers, one thing that drives us crazy more times than not is wanting a game very badly, yet not knowing enough about it to make sense of what we have seen and heard. And this is a perfect description of what’s going on right now with Hideo Kojima’s first solo game Death Stranding. Despite it being revealed years ago, and having numerous trailers come out about it, no one really knows what the game is about, or even when it’s coming to the PS4 (which we do know is exclusive to the console.)

Many people have stated that they expect the anticipated title to come out in 2019, but with Kojima at the helm, nothing is ever certain. But, in an interview with Famitsu, Kojima did drop this line:

“Is 2019 the year of the Whale? Please look forward to Death Stranding!”

This would seem to tease that the game will indeed release next year, although when in the year is up for debate.

Now, as for the “Year of the Whale” line, that’s an easier thing to decipher…more-or-less. In the very first trailer for the game, a bunch of whales were shown washed up on the beach where Norman Reedus’ character first emerged from. So clearly these whales have more significance that we originally thought.

But outside of that? Yeah, we know real idea what’s going on with this game. We know certain aspects of it, we’ve seen multiple characters and cutscenes throughout the trailers that have been shown, but we’ve seen no true gameplay footage, a semblance of an overall plot, or even the abilities of the character we’re playing as.

This is what Hideo Kojima likes to do though, he likes to mess with formulas, break boundaries, and make unexpected twists. But how far will he go with this one? Only he knows.
