It seems like DayZ has been in Early Access for forever now, and it looks like it ain’t leaving it anytime soon. We just found out that the game will be getting a brand new engine. It’s quite weird for the developers to not even release the game, but then to softly “reboot” it with a new engine, but whatever works for them will hopefully work for the players as well.
While Bohemia’s Lead Producer talked with PCGamesN, he mentioned about a lot of things. He even touched upon other games like Fortnite and PUBG, but there was no talk about the launch of DayZ. We guess you can say that since the title has been in Early Access for four years now, a couple more wouldn’t hurt, but that would be ridiculous. He also said:
“We’re releasing DayZ on a new engine in a couple of weeks on PC, and it’s gonna be coming to Game Preview on Xbox this year. That’s basically our aim. I would almost say it’s a reboot of DayZ on PC.”
If you remember from a couple of years back when it first appeared, the was immensely popular, and it was an inspiration for a lot of games like H1Z1. It’s strange to see that DayZ still has an active player base, but it looks like the most loyal of fans are sticking until the end.
Starting again with a new engine must be a massive task! Lets hope that this allows them to keep updating DayZ as its been void of any real decent updates in a long time
