The third installment in the Darksiders franchise, Darksiders 3, is out on all platforms, and it is getting pretty mixed reviews.
When newly released games get a mixed rating on Steam that usually means that people still can’t decide if they like the game or not. That seems to be the case with the latest Darksiders game. Certain people are claiming that it is a Dark Souls ripoff. Others think it took the Darksiders franchise into a refreshing and interesting new direction. From what we see, Darksiders 3 is a game that stands well on its own and as a sequel to the previous two games.
The first Darksiders game felt like a grand and grim action game with an impressive Biblical fantasy setting. The second one introduced an open-world and a lot of RPG elements. The third game kind of mixes those two things, and makes combat much less forgiving. That’s exactly why everyone is saying that Darksiders 3 is straight up copying the Dark Souls franchise, which is false. The Dark Souls game didn’t invent difficult combat, did they?
The most recent Steam reviews have been quite positive, praising the fluid combat and the mesmerizing visuals of the environments, creatures, and Fury herself. So, what do you think, is Darksiders 3 the sequel that we wanted? Maybe, maybe not, but it is a game that is well worth your time if you like your action games with a lot of fantasy and blood.
