Cyberpunk 2077 Will Feature NPCs Reacting To Looks Of Player Character
In the beginning for RPG games, the only real “customization” you often had was the ability to choose your character class. But then, as things evolved, RPGs (certain ones anyway) would allow you to do more, including choose your own gender and create a totally unique character based on how you wanted them to look, act, be in battle, etc. But in regards to looks, it didn’t really mean anything other than to please you. With Cyberpunk 2077 though, that might change.
For the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is one of many “high themes”, one of which being the augmenting of people for various reasons, and in an interview with Dualshockers, Quest Designer Patrick Mills noted:
“This is a world where the system and the powers that be have objectified people and literally turned them into objects. Many times people turn themselves into objects in order sometimes to rebel or sometimes to fit in. Certainly, objectification would be a major theme.”
And because you’ll be able to customize your character from top to bottom, you’re going to see the world react to it:
“The way you dress, the way you customize your character, we want the world to respond to these things.”
Mills noted that it will be multiple things people react to, which could from simple looks in the crowd, to maybe even the ability for conversations to change based on what you have on your character, it’s unclear at present. But, it does seem like Cyberpunk 2077 is aiming to go as deep as it can with its systems to provide an incredibly special experience.
They’ve noted in the past that Night City (the setting for the game) is going to have incredible depth, and now along with character customization doing the same, everything seems to be coming into place. Now all that’s need is the game to be done.
