Cyberpunk 2077 Team Talks Speed of Game and Style
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those games that has been teased forever, and as such, when the game was finally revealed at E3 2018, the gamers who were interested (and there were a lot) wanted to know more and more about it. So, developer CD Project Red decided to do a fun little blog series about the games’ first trailer, literally breaking it down frame by frame so you wouldn’t miss a single detail. The last episode has released, and it talked about both the speed of the game, and the jack your character wears.
In Night City, speed is important, as the dev team notes:
“Speed is a major theme in Cyberpunk 2077. For many, it’s just a way of life. The city moves fast, so keep up or get blown back. Any edgerunner will tell you: If you stop, you die — Night City waits for no one.”
An interesting philosophy, and something that players will no doubt enjoy once the game comes out.
As for the main character, who you will get to create for yourself, the jacket they wore in the trailer was very intentional.
“Our protagonist’s well-worn bomber jacket oozes style, but that’s not it’s only purpose. Like most fashion choices in Night City, the jacket is also designed to be functional, offering the ability to connect the character to different forms of tech.”
So it appears as though technology is going to connect to people and characters on the most basic of levels, and then some. That’s interesting.
It’s also going to be interesting to see what other details come out about the game as time goes on. CD Projekt Red has said the game has a long way to go before it’s done, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for another series like this to happen with the next trailer whenever it arrives.
