Cyberpunk 2077 Team Clarifies Quest Difficulty
CD Projekt Red have many people excited for their next game, Cyberpunk 2077, and for a whole host of reasons. One of the biggest ones is obviously they’re really good at making large-scale RPGs, as they ruled the genre with The Witcher series for many years. But with this one, it’s all contained within a single massive city. This in turn has brought up questions about quests and how long they would be.
One of the team did a German Podcast interview, and a translation of it claimed to have found the answer in that quests would be 3-5 times harder than The Witcher 3. It was posted on Reddit, and it got a lot of people talking, until one of the devs came in and clarified the statement:
“As a bit of context, since this was taken from a German podcast, and some things might get lost in translation: What I was saying was that as a quest designer, I now have to consider the different new opportunities we offer (like using Netrunning Skills, etc.) and how using those often gives you more (as an example, 3 to 5 in some cases) ways how to solve a quest or challenges within a quest,” Weber said. “This naturally makes quest designs more complex in some areas, but it’s honestly great fun to do. I hope this cleared this statement up a little.”
So clearly, quests are going to be deep, it’s just that not every one will be the ‘3-5 times harder” thing, which makes sense when you consider the scale of RPGs and their quests. However, as noted in previous interviews, whatever you do in the game via these quests, the more you’ll affect the world around you. The location of Night City will evolve with you and your choices.
