Cyberpunk 2077 Needs “Time and Privacy” To Make It Perfect
Without a doubt, one of the biggest reveals during E3 2018 last month was the reveal of the world and gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red. The game had been teased for years, and many things were said and revealed from very small sources, but only through the trailers and gameplay teasers were answers finally given. But there’s still a lot of questions about the title, and the creator of Cyberpunk 2020 (the legendary tabletop game) says you’ll get your answers, but you need to give them time to bring them.
“We need space, we need time, and we need the privacy to mull it over,” said Mike Pondsmith to IGN, “We have an awful lot of stuff that we want to do, and it’s going to take time to do it. And I’m hoping the fans are going to give us the time to do it.”
Though Pondsmith is just one person working with CD Projekt Red on it, he’s very happy with how things have turned out:
“The game we have right now is pretty damn close to what I would have built if I built it alone myself in a broom closet. I look at things in there and I just go, ‘Oh my God, that’s perfect. That’s just downright perfect.'” He continued, “But to get that kind of perfection does take time. It takes iteration.”
That being said, he emphasized that the dev team needs to handle fixing the game their way, and they’ll release more videos and information their way.
“If we have too many cooks in the kitchen we’re not going to get a good dinner out of it.”
So it appears that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to take a slow burn approach with fans. But, given the track record of CD Projekt Red, that might not be a bad thing.
