Who doesn’t like action-packed 2D shooters with hectic combat and a futuristic vibe? Cryptark, the latest game from AlienTrap Games, is making an appearance on PlayStation 4 on June 20. Flying around with a jetpack and shooting mechanical horrors sounds fun, doesn’t it? The game is finally polished and filled with content, so now we just have to wait a bit before trying out this vibrant sci-fi shooter on the PlayStation 4.
In Cryptark players take on the role of a privateer that has a lot of guns, which he uses to destroy his enemies with and earn money. You have access to a lot of different mechs, and all of them have their own unique abilities, like the Weevil that can teleport, the PDX-40 which has time-distorting capabilities, or the Salamander, which has will let you scorch anything you come across. Now, you can also add all sorts of deadly weaponry to these mechs, like the Lighting Spindle, Thermal Javelin, or the Boomslang Drones. Your job is to board alien spacecraft, and then eliminate everything in it. Your actual job is to destroy the central Cortex Core, but you can’t get to it unless you kill the things protecting it, like the dangerous Viper packs, the hulking Juggernaut sentinels, and other deadly enemies.
Cryptark does have very vibrant and colorful graphics, and they are quite detailed for a 2D game. We can’t wait for this title to arrive on PlayStation 4, as we don’t have too many sci-fi roguelike 2D shooters available, and Cryptark looks absolutely stellar!
