The latest Killer Instinct content update brings something that is being slowly adopted by certain games, with that feature being cross-play.
Hidden away in the CU is a switch that will enable cross-play between Xbox One or Microsoft Windows 10 and Steam, according to the game’s forums. This will be a feature that is being tested by the developers to make sure there are no underlying issues, so when the option does appear for cross-play, it may disappear from time to time. When this does happen, it simply means that the feature is currently being tested, and players’ experience will not be affected as the devs work out any kinks. Regardless of whether or not it is turned off, it won’t impact on the ability to play KI between Xbox One and Windows 10 or in-network.
For further information, fans are encouraged to keep their ears to the ground on all things Killer Instinct in the near future. This has been the official announcement of cross-play on the ultra-combo forums, though there is still more to be revealed in regards to what the Steam version of Killer Instinct has to offer when it arrives on the platform, bringing a whole new audience to the exciting fighting game series.
