Could Bayonetta Be Coming To Mortal Kombat 11?
While Mortal Kombat has been a title that has loved to create its own universe, including bringing in all-new characters to help flesh it out more, over the recent years, they’ve loved doing crossovers with other franchises. They’ve brought in Freddy Kreuger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, the Predator, and more. It’s honestly something expected now, and so far, none have been teased for Mortal Kombat 11 except for Spawn…and Bayonetta.
That’s right, Bayonetta, the character from Platinum Games that is set to arrive in her third mainstream title this year on Nintendo Switch has been teased for the brutal fighting game. But no, this isn’t some random tease or rumor from a random person. This actually comes from Twitter via the creator of the character, Hideki Kamiya.
Granted, he doesn’t actually say the character is coming into the game, but, he does say “Mortal Kombat X Bayonetta”, and that’s something very specific to talk about and not have it mean what it says.
So now the question is, “is this a good fit for Mortal Kombat?” And that answer is quite simply…yes. The character actually is a great fit. First, the whole series was M-rated, like Mortal Kombat, and was never afraid to shy away from gore, so that honestly won’t be too much of a problem. Bayonetta herself is a very capable fighter, and is capable of being put into a fighting game, as that’s happened before with Super Smash Bros, twice now. And that’s a very simplified fighting game, imagine what she could do in the Mortal Kombat Universe.
And finally, her skillset isn’t too far apart from what others in the Mortal Kombat universe do. She uses guns and magic and transformations to do her dirty work. Many Mortal Kombat characters do the same.
We’ll have to see if this is real, or something else, as the April 13th release of the game draws near.
