Cliff Bleszinski Is Co-Producing A Broadway Show
A misconception that is often touted around the video game world is that once you are in it, you are in it for life. True, at anytime you retire, but many gamers think that the people in the industry won’t want to leave for one reason or another. Likely because of the “fun” or “fame” or “success”. But therein lies the problem, sometimes it doesn’t last. Just ask Cliff Bleszinski. He was once on top of the gaming world, and now, he’s out of it.
When he worked with Epic Games, he was one of the most well-known game developers in the world. He helped create Gears of War, which was the most popular franchise on the Xbox 360 during its run. He was also the guy that started out the path to Fortnite. But then, he left to make his own studio, Boss Key Productions, who made the game Lawbreakers…which flopped instantly on launch on Steam.
Due to its utter failure, the studio was shut down, and Cliff Bleszinski retired from gaming, but many wondered what would be next for the one-time legend. Well, on Twitter, he made it known to the world that he does have a new gig…on Broadway:
NEWS!
I’m officially co-producing this show.
That’s my next gig!
(Crazy, eh?!)
It’s on Spotify, give it a go. It’s fantastic!
The show he’s doing is a play called Hadestown, which is about two love stories from Greek Mythology that happen to intertwine in the story. But with a few twists for the modern age of course. Early reviews of the production say that it’s destined to be the next Broadway hit, and with Cliffy B. producing it, it could lead to more productions for him.
Even he acknowledged the irony of the situation by noting on Twitter that the gaming sites wouldn’t know what to do with this news.
