Civilization VI Gives First Look At The Cree
Civilization VI has been praised as one of the deepest and “most complete” titles that have launched in recent memory, if not gaming history. The team didn’t just rebuild the game via a new game engine, they also added to the gameplay with more city focus, and expansion abilities. The game was massive. And now, with the new year is coming an expansion via Rise and Fall, which will bring nine new nations for players to control. One of them has just been detailed: The Cree.
The Cree is a Native North American tribe, and one that had a very interesting place in history. Their leader, Poundmaker, was legendary for his ability to “tow the line” between being aggressive, and being diplomatic. In fact, he worked hard to sustain a relationship with the Canadian government, and succeeded.
The Cree have some very interesting abilities, including getting an automatic trade route when they research Pottery. Certain units of theirs can even claim unclaimed tiles as long as they’re within a certain distance to a Cree city.
Their unique housing unit makes it so you can get bonus resources depending on where you place it. You can earn extra food, gold, and more, which will make it key where you place it in your cities. As for their special unit, they have a version of the Scout that is very powerful. It gets an automatic promotion, and has much greater combat abilities.
Poundmaker himself has an ability called “Favorable Terms”, which will make it so that any nation you’re in an alliance with can see what you have, and vice versa. What’s more, you earn bonuses the more favorable your relationship is with these nations. This can make it so that you can build up your empire without having to fight anyone should you want to.
Civilization VI: Rise and Fall arrives on February 8th.
