When Civilization VI came out, both critics and players praised the teams behind the game for making something that felt not only in line with what previous entries had done, but also, making something unique and special. The game had an entirely new graphics engine, one made just for this game. It also featured a completely redone city-building system, which put more strategy and personality into the game. And now, the game is set to bring even more to the table through a new expansion set to arrive next year.
As revealed by BusinessWire, Civilization VI: Rise and Fall will be bringing many new things to the beloved game, not the least of which is an all-new gameplay mode called “The Great Ages”. Where, “players can experience the ebb and flow of building empires amidst the challenges of history, either to lasting greatness or the dust of antiquity”.
In this new mode, you’ll try and build your empire, but as time goes on, so come the struggles that all great empires must face. If you’re strong, and make good decisions, you’ll come out alive. If not? Then time will grind you to dust.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg with this expansion. For example, the game is bringing in nine new leaders to deal with, and eight new civilizations that you can be. So get ready to see what they have to offer you.
Then, there’s an addition to the loyalty system. Now, every city has individual loyalties that you’ll need to keep an eye on, else face rebellion. Other things you can expect are the ability to appoint Governors, new Alliance systems that you can have, looking back at your accomplishments via a Timeline feature, new gameplay content like new World Wonders, and more.
Rise and Fall comes February 8th.
