Check Out The First Hour Of Metal Gear Survive
The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the most esteemed set of titles in the history of video games, and that’s saying something. The brainchild of Hideo Kojima, the story told of war in its grandest, and most horrifying, element. Political, economical, and world-changing, the games changed how people think about stealth titles, and stories in games. But then, Konami, the publisher, fired Hideo Kojima, but they still wanted to keep the franchise going. So thus, they made Metal Gear Survive and will be releasing it later this month.
Unlike the Metal Gear Solid series, this isn’t so much a stealth game as an action/survival title. However, it is tied to the greater Metal Gear story in a loose way. You play as a soldier who was part of a unit ran by Big Boss (the genetic father of Solid Snake), whose whole units gets sucked into a wormhole and transported to another dimension. The game is going to be very different, as such, Konami is doing its best to promote the game. So, they’ve released the first hour of gameplay footage for you to watch and enjoy.
Through this, you’ll see how your character wakes up in the game’s story mode, and the first missions they’ll participate in as they try to both scavenge for supplies, find other survivors, and take down the threats that this dangerous new world offers.
Konami is also releasing a new beta for the game just days before release. It’ll be on the PS4, Xbox One and PC from the 16th-18th, whereas Metal Gear Survive itself will release on the 20th.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how the game does. For since its announcement, fans have not been on board with this game for both gameplay and philosophical reasons. Its sales could determine what happens to Metal Gear going forward.
