The decision made by Activision to bring the Call of Duty franchise back to its World War Two roots appears the have been a popular one. Following disappointing sales of the last entry, Infinite Warfare, Sledgehammer’s return has made a massive impact in terms of sell-through.
According to recent reports, millions of copies sold for the game throughout the month of launch and beyond, seeing it become the number one selling console game in 2017 for North America. Not only that, but it has also passed $1 billion in sell-through since it launched on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
This is sell-through data too, which is often confused with shipping data. This means that stock has been shipped through to retail outlets before being sold-through to customers. So needless to say, Call of Duty: WW2 is most certainly back to where it belongs on both formats of sales.
As for sales per-unit, it was PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds that has taken the top spot, having sold over 25 million copies on PC alone. What’s more, a lot of these sales were based in China, as it has become quite a hit in that part of the world.
Call of Duty: WW2 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
