Bungie has announced that a brand new Destiny 2 map will be released today for the PvP aspect of the recently released sequel. Entitled “Distant Shore,” it will be added to the game to coincide with the beginning of Destiny 2’s first Iron Banner, before releasing on all playlists at some point next week.
For those looking for access to Distant Shores, it will beginning showing up in the game for all players once the Iron Banner event ends on October 17th. So if you are wanting to check out Distant Shore in the game’s multiplayer in general, then you’ll have to wait until next week in order to do so.
Destiny 2 has also been subject to a rather nasty bug it seems this week, which has caused the delay of the launch of Prestige mode. Via the official website, Bungie outlined the nature of the bug, at least to the extent of what it had caused, which was the delay of the mode on PS4 and Xbox One. Ultimately, it affects the difficulty in the mode, which would be a serious problem, given that Prestige is the harder version of a raid.
The post states: “An exploit has been discovered in the Leviathan Raid that causes the encounters to be stripped of their intended challenge. To allow time to fix this issue, we are delaying the start of the Prestige Raid until next week. It’s important to us that the team who earns World First status doesn’t have their legacy tarnished by doubt, skepticism, or uncertainty.”
Destiny 2 is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, with a release on PC coming later this month.
