The practice of Destiny 2 bringing in its first ever holiday event, which in this instance is known as The Dawning, would on paper go off without much of a hitch, and would be something that many players would want to see. The prospect of picking up some neat seasonal drops is a pretty daunting one unfortunately, after it was revealed that pick ups such as new armor, weaponry and more are locked behind a paywall. So unless you’re willing to hand over your hard earned real-life money to the Eververse, you’re likely to be going without.
This has led to players lashing out at the Eververse, with many calling for it to be taken down completely. Understandably, players feel that given this is a timed event, content should be able to be earned, and shouldn’t rely on having to pay real money.
Bungie has since responded with the following: “I know we say it a lot, but we hear your feedback on Eververse. We both want our players to feel respected, and to deliver great content regularly to our community. Expect lots of discussion with the dev team and an update on our path forward after the new year.”
It will be interesting to see if the Eververse will be a permanent fixture in Destiny 2, or if fans get their wish and eradicate it completely.
