During the first development roadmap update of this year, Bungie revealed that they would be rebalancing the microtransaction and raids systems in Destiny 2, which would give players improved rewards based on their gameplay, rather than having to rely on luck.
Bungie has admitted that the game is too heavily sided with the microtransaction-heavy Eververse store, which according to game director Christopher Barrett was “never intended to be a substitute for end game content and rewards.”
Barrett states that the game will now be shifting the item balance to items such as Sparrows, Ghosts and ships that can be earned as “activity rewards” rather than relying on drops from Bright Engrams. There will also be more direct purchase options according to Barrett, as well as other adjustments that will “allow players to get the items they want more often.”
End-game Raids will also be a topic of change to make them better for the player. This will include new Raid centered perks and guaranteed item drops from a number of encounters which should alleviate the situation that players are in, where difficult raids aren’t worth doing for the rewards that are on offer.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
