Bungie Delays Certain Destiny 2 Updates
If you look back at 2017, there were a lot of high-profile video games that didn’t meet the expectations of gamers in many serious ways. One of the biggest ones was Destiny 2. The sequel to the hit title from Bungie had a lot of hype going in, but via the beta and its launch, players found out that the game had drastically changed from its predecessor, and Bungie made many questionable decisions that are affecting the game to this day. They’ve been working on fixing things, and that may take a little more time than players thought.
Next week was meant to be big for the game, as certain updates were meant to roll out. However, Bungie revealed via a blog post that they’re delaying certain things to ensure the quality of them.
“We’ve moved a few items out to later releases – this is because we are trying to ensure each feature we add hits a sufficiently high quality bar. So while we really wanted to get Nightfall Strike Unique Weapons into your hands next week to coincide with Nightfall Scoring, it’s more important that each of those rewards live up to the difficulty it will take to earn them. They have to be super cool, so we’re giving the artists extra time to make sure they are… super cool. Mod System Improvements are also still planned, but will not be available when 1.2.0 is released. “
It’s not all bad news, they’ve also announced that Rumble is coming to Iron Banner and Mayhem in 6v6, and Doubles is going to be returning as well. Bungie wants to have more rotation in their modes, and this will be happening once 1.1.4 arrives.
So now, the ball is in their court, will this new roadmap stand? Or, will it change again so that things are “super cool” when they release? Bungie has a lot of pressure on them, let’s see if they come through.
