Despite reports from players, Bungie is adamant that they are not banning players from the PC version of Destiny 2 for using third-party applications.
Several users have taken to platforms such as Reddit and the game’s forums, to make complaints about bans being introduced. Yesterday, much to the delight of many Destiny 2 fans, the game was released on PC. Since then, complaints have been flooding in over being kicked out of the game for using game capture programs and Discord overlays.
This goes against what Bungie initially said earlier this year, in which they stated that they would block applications such as these with concerns over players inserting code into the game client, meaning that third-party voice comms and hardware monitoring not being compatible with the game.
Even so, Bungie has assured players that these third-party applications won’t trigger bans: “Third-party applications that aren’t compatible with Destiny 2 may cause the game to not run but won’t result in a ban.” It remains to be seen whether these bans will actually be lifted, once it has been discovered that they were handed out for reasons that Bungie said they wouldn’t be done for.
Destiny 2 is now available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
