Bungie Acknowledge Mistake in Locking Players Out of Content in Destiny 2

The release of the latest Destiny 2 expansion has not been without controversy, with the Curse of Osiris locking players out of content that could be accessed previously in the base game.

Certain activities became inaccessible thanks to increased power levels that required the new expansion to reach, as previous power levels were in fact much lower. Not only did this lock players out of certain content, but it also prevented them from gaining certain achievements.

Needless to say, this angered many fans of the game, leading to a public outcry and a potential disaster on Bungie’s hands. As a consequence, many fans demanded a refund for their copies of Destiny 2, and has since prompted the following response from Bungie:

“We’ve heard from the community that …these plans aren’t working. The Prestige Raid was a novel experience that players value, even if they don’t own Curse of Osiris, and it was a mistake to move that experience out of reach. Throughout the lifetime of the Destiny Franchise, Trials has always required that players owned the latest Expansion. However, for Destiny 2, Trials of The Nine launched as part of the main game, so it’s not right for us to remove access to it.”

Hopefully, this will at least appease some of the fans that have been affected, as Bungie acknowledge the mistake that they have made.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
