Bluehole Promises To Change Key Combat Aspects Of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
One of the biggest success stories of 2017 was PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The battle royale style shooter hit PC last year and then took the world by storm after that. The game featured intense combat, plenty of ways to kill people, and a need for the player to adapt on the fly to ensure they lasted to the end. But also, the team at Bluehole used Steam Early Access to grow the game in many ways. But even they admitted that they didn’t get to fix all that they wanted. But now, that appears to be changing.
As noted by Daily Express, Bluehole is looking to change some keys parts to combat in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Mainly involving having match be more fair, less chaotic. This includes changing how the Blue Zone works and more.
“The first plan is about rebalancing the blue zone. Over the course of the Early Access period, we received a lot of feedback from you that the pacing and distribution of combat encounters in a match could be more even and less chaotic.”
They noted that they wanted to fix this earlier, but development had them focus on other key aspects of the game:
“We performed a series of internal tests to find ways to address this issue. However, we were not able to take any action until now as other fundamental systems had to be developed and fixed first.”
This update will apparently decrease the time it takes for the Blue Zone to start to shorten in the later parts of the match, but, the speed of the shrinking won’t increase, as Bluehole wants players to at least have a chance to get to safety.
It’ll be interesting to see how players react to this, for better or for worse, or more than that, when this might get put into the Xbox One version of the game, which is still in preview mode right now.
