Over recent years in the gaming market, there has been a massive resurgence of bringing back the very foundations which were laid down by the games of yesteryear. Retro has definitely been the ‘in’ thing over the past few years, where we have seen developers offering players a chance to relive their youths whilst also educating a whole new generation of gamers to just what games were like back in the day.
This has been evident in games such as Shovel Knight, Slain: Back From Hell, Axiom Verge and a number of other titles brought back from the good old days. Sega has been a particular advocate of this, bringing back a number of their classic franchises to modern gaming platforms, plus the likes of Capcom with the Mega Man Legacy collections that have been released.
Argentinian developer Ravegan looks to also champion the old times with their title Blue Rider, an adrenaline-fueled phenomenon available on Xbox One, PS4 and Steam. This action game aims to recapture the feel of ancient arcade games, by offering an “easy to learn, difficult to beat” experience.
