Let us be absolutely clear here. This is speculation, a rumor, some might even say wild conjecture…which means it’s the most fun thing to talk about. So, Blizzard released a tweet yesterday. Nothing new, right? Well, that tweet featured a Diablo nightlight. One that was constantly being turned on and off. The message on the tweet was very simple, “Sweet Dreams”. Nothing much, right? Well…that’s not what the internet thought, for they feel that this teases that Diablo III could come to the Nintendo Switch.
How did they get from a nightlight to the Nintendo Switch? Well, think about it, what is the action of turning something on and off like that? Switch-ing. Get it? Yeah, we know, it’s a stretch, a big one even, however, it is an intriguing one.
The idea of a Blizzard game on Nintendo Switch has long been speculated, and Blizzard themselves have complimented on it. The question now is, will their first title on Switch be Diablo III? It certainly would make sense.
Why? Well, think about it, the game is the least internet intensive (save for maybe Starcraft) in their library. After all, it’s an action-RPG. Which is another benefit, it means that it’s not as visually taxing as some of the other franchises in the Blizzard roster, which means, that it could have the easiest transition from one system to another.
The real question though, is whether this is a good idea. Yes, any Blizzard game on Switch is a good idea, but, fans honestly haven’t been asking for Diablo III on Switch, they’ve been asking for Overwatch on Switch. So putting a divisive title on Switch instead of an incredibly popular one may be the wrong move.
All that being said, we need to remind you that this is still all speculation and rumor…for now.
