Blizzard Details New Overwatch Uprising Event
Overwatch has a lot of things going for it, but one of the things that Blizzard does really well is bring the events. Whether its events to celebrate holidays or special events going on in the world itself, or something to help show off the lore within the game, they really excel at bringing it to life. One of the biggest successes from last year was the arrival of the Uprising event. And now, we’re just a week away from Blizzard releasing the next chapter of that event.
Blizzard dropped a new teaser trailer for the King’s Row Uprising event, and it shows off the team of Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, and Mercy going up against a group of Omnics who have taken over the King’s Row section of London. Here’s the official description from Blizzard:
“Journey seven years into the past and join a group of Overwatch agents fighting through the streets of King’s Row to quell an uprising led by Null Sector, a rogue group of omnics. Team up with your friends and play as Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, or Mercy to defeat the robots and liberate the city. Collect 160 items including legendary skins Cadet Oxton Tracer, Chief Engineer Lindholm Torbjörn, Combat Medic Ziegler Mercy, Blackwatch Genji, Talon Widowmaker, and more.”
What made the original Uprising event so special was that it took players to the past to see how Overwatch formed in a way via the Omnic rebellion. Furthermore, the original event showed the very first mission of fan-favorite character, Tracer. It’ll be interesting to see what story elements come out of this new Uprising event.
To that end, Overwatch creative director Jeff Kaplan revealed that more story content like Uprising will be coming soon, including allowing you to replay the original event via the new “Overwatch Archives.” Stay tuned for more info.
