Blackout Mode Getting Fixed In Black Ops 4
When Treyarch announced that they weren’t going to be doing the traditional singleplayer campaign for their next Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4, many were stunned. But the team revealed that one of the reasons for this was because they were going to focus on a brand new multiplayer mode for the title: Blackout. Which is essentially a battle royale game mode, which to be fair, Call of Duty has never had before. And based on early indications, it’s a successful addition to the game…that still needs some adjustments.
For you see, within Blackout mode there is many kinds of ways you can do the battle royale. One of which is called “Quads”, where you can team up with three people and go to war. But, the problem is that this version of the mode isn’t doing what it’s supposed to, and so in a post on the Black Ops 4 Reddit thread, Treyarch said this:
We’re continuing to investigate occasional hitches in performance in Blackout Quads playlists, particularly on Xbox One. As we’ve mentioned before, though this hasn’t proven easily replicable during testing, we’re committed to tracking down the cause and squashing it.
Another issue that players have been having with the mode is the audio in various segments, but Treyarch remarked that they’re working on that too.
We are making several updates to audio in Blackout based upon our testing and feedback from the community to deliver the soundscape our players expect in Blackout. Look for this update to drop in the next week.
All in all, this is standard work for a game that was only recently released. And since Blackout mode is one that is truly new to this franchise, it’s expected that there are some bumps along the way. We’ll just have to wait and see how long it takes for everything to be fixed.
