A couple of BioWare veterans are in the process of cooking up a brand new IP which will be an original sci-fi RPG title.
Mass Effect: Andromeda buried the Mass Effect franchise. In a rather unpleasant way. Fans of the series are heartbroken, but there is yet hope. Hope for another excellent sci-fi RPG with a gripping story and compelling characters. What am I talking about, you may ask. Well, a new studio that’s led by James Ohlen (creative director of cult classic RPG, Dragon Age: Origins) and Chad Robertson (BioWare veteran) just got formed. But that’s not all. Archetype Entertainment has already announced that they’re working on a brand new game. An original sci-fi RPG.
It’s time to get excited. This studio will be an autonomous division of the Wizards of the Coast development team, which is most known for the Magic: The Gathering Arena title. Is it safe to have high hopes from this studio? I think it’s safe to say yes, as James Ohlen is a titan in the video game industry, a man that worked on Neverwinter, Dragon Age, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate, and so on. A capable man that knows how to make enthralling and incredibly complex RPGs. Will these BioWare veterans deliver an impressive new sci-fi RPG? Hopefully yes. After Mass Effect: Andromeda, we’re all itching to play any solid RPG in this setting.
