Bethesda is Expecting Problems With Fallout 76 Beta
Bethesda has made a lot of great games during their time, but arguably one of their most ambitious games is Fallout 76. For unlike previous Fallout titles, this one will be an online-only game, a first for the series, and a very risky move. However, Bethesda is confident about their choice, as they’ve been wanting to do a more multiplayer focused Fallout game for some time now. However, with the beta coming up, they’re not deluding themselves into thinking that nothing will go wrong.
In an interview with IGN, Bethesda’s Pete Hines talked about the Fallout 76 beta and noted:
“It’s interesting and exciting, but I’m also going into this having done this enough to know this is definitely not going to go perfectly,” he told the site. “There’s just no universe… nobody’s ever done it and [has been] like: ‘Oh, zero problems. There’s not a single thing that went wrong.'”
While that may seem pessimistic, it actually is the proper attitude to have, after all, betas are literally meant to help point out the problems in the game from the fans perspective. It’s very unlikely that a game as big as Fallout 76 would have zero problems. And Hines perfectly understands this:
“We just have to be ready for that. That’s in part what the beta is. Break it Early, Test the Application. It’s a joke, but you need to break it early. We have to find what problems we can find, and then fix it and figure out if the processes that we put in place to fix it hold it. If not, we have to change those and do it again. We need you to break something else.”
The beta time will be announced soon, and the game itself will be released on November 14th. Stay tuned for more updates.
