Star Wars Battlefront II has been divisive since launch. However, the gameplay itself is solid, it’s everything else that fans and critics have thrown hate at (for legitimate reasons, mind you). However, EA has been working hard to deliver updates and changes that make the game both more fun and more like what players have wanted. Last year they dropped DLC that tied the game to the latest movie, The Last Jedi, and now, a new update adds some new features to the title.
First off, if you played the story mode, then you’ll know that the main character, Iden Versio, had a special Tie-Fighter of her own. Well, that Fighter has now been added to Starfighter Assault. Versio’s Tie-Fighter has some very unique abilities, one of which is an Afterburner that will give you a brief boost of speed, as well as allowing you to break enemy locks. Furthermore, the ship is an offensive powerhouse, and when mixed with Iden’s “Inferno Leader” ability, allows you to see all enemy ships within a certain radius of yourself, which will be pretty handy in the mode.
Furthermore, the planet of Crait (which was added via The Last Jedi DLC) has gotten a new game mode via Blast. It’s likely that other planets could get such upgrades in later patches and DLC.
Finally, certain characters received some balance tweaks via the patch. In particular, Finn and Boba Fett had their weapons nerfed a bit to balance things out. And of course, there were bug fixes, such as several Hero abilities not working properly when used.
EA has been teasing what might be next for Battlefront II, including having the ability to make Private Matches with friends, as well as new Hero characters like Anakin Skywalker. But we’ll have to wait and see if they come.
