Battlefield V To Fix Death and Life Mechanics
There are many aspects of a shooter title that are vital to consistent and fun gameplay. One of the biggest ones is the focus on how long it takes for a person to die after being shot, or how many times they have to be damaged in order to deliver the final blow. For Battlefield V, EA and DICE worked hard to try and balance that out, but according to gamers, they didn’t do as good of a job as they hoped. So, now, they’re trying to fix it.
In an update on Reddit, EA outlined exactly why these systems (Time-To-Kill and Time-To-Die) were important, how they were planning to make them better.
“TTK and TTD are very closely linked, We’re seeing players die too often/too quickly and get frustrated because of it. So, we’re looking at how we can improve the experience for new players and veterans alike. This may lead to a perceived slower TTK.”
EA and DICE both stressed that among the things that Battlefield V needs fixing, this is the most important:
“The TTD experience is one of our high priorities right now and there are a lot of important and complex pieces that are being investigated to identify any issues in that area, including netcode,” core gameplay designer Florian Le Bihan said. “We are also expanding the scope of our investigation and improvements to other components that are directly related to the player experience when it comes to getting shot, receiving damage, etc.”
Given the games recent release date, it makes sense that it would take a while to refine these features. Its rival, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, is having its own problems with balances and competitive fairness. So it’s fair to cut them a little slack. Once things are adjusted, it’ll be much more fun in the game.
