Battlefield V Doing Away With Loot Boxes And DLC
Battlefield V has already been making a lot of waves ever since its reveal trailer. Some in the good way, and some not. For example, the game is heading back to WWII, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it’ll look as good as ever, if not better. However, there is some “authenticity” controversies going on in regards to female soldiers in the game. Ones that apparently have robotic arms of sorts. but arguably the biggest worry is whether the game will rehash old wounds with DLC and Loot Boxes.
Well, you can put your mind at ease, for EA and DICE has shocked the world again by noting that there will be no Loot Boxes or paid items to help boost your character. There will only be cosmetic purchases in the game. Given what happened with Battlefront II and other recent EA games, this is very much a relief.
But wait, there’s more. EA and DICE have also revealed that post-launch content won’t come via DLC this go around. It’ll come via a special free service called “Tides Of War”. Here’s the breakdown:
“Tides of War is DICE’s new approach to live services, where players will set out on an epic journey with their Company in unexpected battles throughout World War 2. There will be no premium pass, all players will have access to the same maps and modes, keeping the community unified as they progress through Battlefield V. In Tides of War, their journey through World War 2 will grow through themed experiences that will include events and all-new ways to play like Grand Operations, while also unlocking the latest themed rewards such as weapons and vehicles to further shape their Company.”
So, it appears that while Battlefield V won’t be “authentic”, it will be changing the game in many ways. And that’s something to be happy for.
