Battlefield V Delayed Until November 20th
Game delays are nothing new in the industry, and the fact that teams delay games is something a blessing in disguise as it gives them more to work and refine things that would usually cause problems after they launched and weren’t fixed. Today, EA revealed that they were pushing the release date of their anticipated shooter Battlefield V back one month. So the game will now be coming out on November 20th. They explained the reason for the change in a blog post.
We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War.
While this may seem like a simple reason, it actually has to do with feedback from players:
You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling.
In EA’s eyes, they want to make sure that the positivity that gamers have been having towards the game is maintained by the time it releases. Not to mention that they want to make sure the game has numerous improvements and fixes by the time of release:
You’ve also spurred us to make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience, including adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. You’ll see a lot of these reflected in our Open Beta that starts on September 6.
Another factor no doubt is that Battlefield V was set to come out on the same day as Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the most anticipated games of the year. And furthermore, the game was coming out only one week after Black Ops 4, its main rival. So by pushing back a month, Battlefield V actually gives itself a more free release date.
