Battlefield 2042 impacted the franchises’ community so much that EA had to increase the Battlefield 4 server capacity.
Battlefield 2042 is the big bomb of 2021. The game’s announcement ignited a fire in the Battlefield community that didn’t go out. Fans were so excited they went over to play Battlefield 4. Since it seems that’s the closest thing to the upcoming near-future Battlefield title, even though the game is almost 10 years old.
Nevertheless, since gamers saw the unhinged multiplayer mayhem Battlefield 2042 showcased in its trailer, the queue times of Battlefield 4 received a hit. Especially in the US West region, players had to wait longer than before in order to jump into the game.
But, did anyone expect EA to step in and help? We’re talking about the big bad in the video games industry, the villain. Yet they’re the ones that saw the Battlefield 4 nuisance and increased the server capacity for this region so more people can play without encountering a long queue time. An unexpected, but welcome surprise that left most of us speechless.
Is EA turning a new leaf? Transitioning from a villain to an hero? A redemption arc in the making? Well, probably not, but it’s a strange kind of surprise you don’t see often these days.
