Battle Royale Mode Would Be A “Natural Fit” For Battlefield V
The Battlefield series has always been known for its big set pieces, insane action, and questionable relationship with physics and reality…to an extent. Yesterday, Battlefield V made its debut via a reveal trailer, and it showed many things that will get players excited, and a few that will likely leave them confused. However, like many games coming out this year, many fans have wondered whether the game will get a Battle Royale mode, not unlike how Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 made their Battle Royale style mode Blackout.
Well, DICE Senior Producer Andreas Morrel talked to Gamespot about this topic, and though he wouldn’t confirm anything, he did make one acknowledged, it would fit the world perfectly:
“It’s hard to miss the battle royale frenzy that’s ongoing,” Morrel said. “We’re all very much fans of it, back at DICE, and we’re definitely looking to see how Battlefield can explore the Battle Royale genre. We’ve got the sandbox, we’ve got the vehicles, we’ve got the epic scale–it is a natural fit for us.”
So it looks as though the game might feature one, it’ll just depend on what EA and DICE can do with it, which isn’t far off from what Treyarch and Activision are doing with Blackout.
Battlefield V has already earned a lot of buzz because of its trailer, and not all of it was good. For example, the game made a big statement by not only putting female soldiers in the game (which was confirmed to be set in WWII), but they also put a female soldier on the cover of the game itself. Many people are crying foul because this did not happen in World War II. DICE’s Executive Producer for the game had this to say in response:
We will always put fun over authentic 🙂
And the trailer has been garnering a lot of downvotes because of its lack of “authenticity”.
