Banning Issues Sweep Through GTA Online
There’s nothing worse than an explained banning on an online multiplayer game. To be fair, bans are a legitimate part of the gaming model, as moderators have to make sure that everyone is being fair to others. But when one happens very expectedly? Yeah, that raises eyebrows, especially when they’re happening all over the place. That is currently what is happening in GTA Online, and players are hoping that it gets fixed soon, because what’s happening is really weird. How weird? Well…
Reddit is alight with reports that people are getting banned, then unbanned, then re-banned all over again. And to be clear, these are people who clearly did not deserve to be banned at all. They would go online to find themselves ban, then come back and their accounts were fine, and then, they would be banned all over again. Needly to say, this is a very odd situation.
Many Redditors are speculating as to what’s going on, but a common theme is that right now, GTA Online is not safe to play:
“Maybe Rockstar didn’t fix the initial issue that caused people to get banned before reversing them, or maybe someone made a ‘mistake’ that restored peoples accounts. Either way, it is still currently not safe to go online. Whether you’ve never been banned in the first place or even if you see that you have been unbanned, do not log back in yet.”
To clarify, these issues appear to only be happening on the PC version of GTA Online, console users are not subject to these bans at present. Which could be a clue as to what is going on, but we’re not sure at present.
Rockstar Games has made no statement as of yet, but the moment they do, we’ll update you on the situation and how it’s being remedied.
