After nearly 20 years passed since Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn came out, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been confirmed by Larian Studios.
Any fan of D&D has played at least one Baldur’s Gate game. They still remain one of the best RPGs ever made for the PC. Since they are cult classics that are adored by countless fans, it’s strange that we haven’t gotten word of the third game until now. Larian Studios, the brilliant minds behind Divinity: Original Sin 2, one of the best RPGs from the last decade, are the people behind this new Baldur’s Gate title.
Google’s Stadio event was where Larian Studios announced the third entry in this series. For now, there’s only one cinematic trailer. It shows us what happens to a human that gets turned into a mind flayer. Quite a gruesome and grim trailer, and it sets up the atmosphere perfectly for an RPG like this.
The game’s announcement video came with this description:
Developed by the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2, Baldur’s Gate III is the official next adventure in the venerable Baldur’s Gate series. The teaser trailer shows a return of a malevolent presence to Baldur’s Gate, intent on devouring it from the inside out, corrupting everything that remains in the Forgotten Realms. The fate of the Forgotten Realms lies in your hands.
Players will have to create their own band of merry adventurers and venture along the Sword Coast, solving quests, killing sinister bad guys, and saving the world. Everyone is very excited to hear more about this project, its estimated release date, and that sort of thing. After all, this is the third entry in a series that hasn’t been touched for almost 20 years. It’s definitely something you should be very excited about.
