Astral Chain Website Goes Online, Gives New Details

One of the biggest surprises of the recent Nintendo Direct by far was that Platinum Games was not only working on Bayonetta 3 (which is rumored to come out this year), but they were also working on a brand new title for the Switch called Astral Chain. This game takes place in a cyberpunk future and focuses on two characters working together to fight. The trailer was very intriguing, and gamers wanted to know more before the August 30th release.

Their requests have been granted, as the Astral Chain website has officially gone live, and Platinum Games has released many new details about the title. Including a synopsis of it:

The Ark: A massive, prosperous, multicultural city. But disaster strikes when mysterious dimensional gates appear, bringing dangerous alien creatures to the Ark to attack the people and corrupt the land. The Ark police form a special task force, known as Neuron, to face the alien threat head-on. Humanity’s last chance against invasion is a special living weapon called the Legion. As a rookie Neuron officer, you and your Legion will work together to solve cases and save humankind.

Just in that description we’ve gotten a lot to process for what Astral Chain is. And that was just the tip of the iceberg in regards to what they revealed for the game.

For example, the main characters are twins, and you’ll pick one of them to play as:

You are one of a pair of twins, freshly drafted into Neuron and given a Legion of your own. Choose a male or female character – the other will appear as your twin sibling and closest squadmate.

You’ll also have other squadmates that you can work with and grow with. Furthermore, the action is meant to be fast and intense as you control the two characters at once, not unlike the recent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 title from fellow Japanese developer Monolith Soft.

Either way, the game looks entertaining, and it releases exclusively on Switch this August.
