Assassin’s Creed: Origins DLC Got Released Early Accidentally
Video game developers have a lot to do. They need to make their games, market their games, sell their games, and for most games, make content after launch to keep people happy. Ubisoft is no stranger to this, as they’ve released tons of DLC for their games over the years. That being said, they probably wish that the Assassin’s Creed: Origins DLC had a bit smoother road to launch. The DLC was supposed to release on the 23rd. However, for some, it got to them early.
The DLC is called “The Hidden Ones”, and actually continues the main story of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but four years after the story ends. What’s more, the game will feature a brand new region for people to explore and have fun in. Some gamers though are already having fun in it, as they found it in the Xbox Store early and got it. They then took pictures of it to prove that they got it, causing confusion all around.
Naturally, once Ubisoft found out about this, they responded on their forums.
“The Hidden Ones expansion was unintentionally made available on Xbox One earlier today for some players before the January 23 release date. This happened due to a misconfiguration of our in-game store and has been corrected.”
To be fair to those who already have the DLC, and thus access to the new content, they’re not going to revoke permissions to play the content. If for no other reason than this would likely corrupt save files, and Ubisoft doesn’t want that. However, they do request that you don’t post anything about The Hidden Ones DLC outside of a special sub-forum.
For those who don’t have the DLC, you’ll sadly have to wait a few more days until it arrives. Oh, and be careful of spoilers, they’re out there now.
