The announcement of Anthem being delayed until 2019 will come as surprisingly good news, as EA confirm a new Battlefield game will release in October this year.
EA denied claims that the delay is down to being behind on development, but rather opting for a quieter quarter for Anthem’s release, which would be beneficial in the long run. Anthem will now release in 2019 instead of the end of this year, with EA quick to respond to the claims made by Kotaku regarding the game being put back.
According to EA finance chief Blake Joregensen, the situation is “not a delay” and that “people are trying to create a story.” After what happened with Titanfall 2, which suffered massively from a sales perspective due to being released sandwiched between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, you can see why EA would not want to see Anthem suffer as such.
Meanwhile, there will be a major Battlefield 1 update that is set to go live today, which brings the brand new Turning Tides DLC, which introduces new maps, modes and vehicles to the game. More news is bound to come in for the new Battlefield soon too, which will be exciting for BF fans.
