Dragon Ball FighterZ has gotten a lot of hype since its announcement last year at E3 2017, and for a very good reason. On one hand, the game looks like the anime, pure and simple. The style, the effects, everything feels like it was taken right from the legendary show. Two, the gameplay looks tight and fierce. Every character is different, and that leads to some very interesting strategies that can be put on display. And three, the story is going to be unique in many ways.
This is because the main villain of the game is going to be a new creation by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Her name is Android 21, and that makes things very interesting. But, what might get you going, even more, is that she’s now confirmed to be a playable character within Dragon Ball FighterZ. However, she won’t look how you think she will. Above is her standard form, but when she’s in combat? She looks like this:
Look familiar? It should, for she is a dead ringer for a female form of Majin Buu (who has two forms in the game for the record). According to a scan of a Japanese Magazine, this is indeed Android 21, but in a “Majin Form” of sorts. Which leaves many questions as to what is going on here that caused her to go from human, to this.
Now, given that she is an Android (again, an original creation), it’s possible she studied Majin Buu and thought that transforming into something like him would make her more powerful. According to the promos of this reveal, “Mr. Buu” (aka Kid Buu) calls Android 21 a “friend”. That’s a dangerous combination.
Her powers and abilities in-game are a bit unknown right now. Though apparently, she does have the ability to use the Hunger Beam, which turns people into candy.
Dragon ball FighterZ arrives on January 26th.
