Ada Wong Getting Redesign In Resident Evil 2 Remake
One of the things that publishers have to decide when they do a remastering or a remake of a video game is how far to upgrade things. For certain titles, a light graphical boost is all that’s required. Or, they can do with a new gameplay mode, or enhanced gameplay mechanics. For Capcom, they’re going all-out to make sure that Resident Evil 2 Remake is the best version the game could ever possibly be. And that includes redesigning the looks of all the characters, including Ada Wong.
For those who don’t know, Ada Wong debuted in the original Resident Evil 2, and was both a spy and a love interest to main character Leon S. Kennedy, especially as the series went on. And she’s known for her wearing of a red dress in all the games she’s in. But in Resident Evil 2 Remake, that won’t happen. This comes from game director Kazunori Kadoi, who noted to Eurogamer:
“It goes back to the same thing of, what would look natural to be wandering around in a photo-realistic environment in?” He added, “I think wandering around in that dress just getting on with your job as a spy probably doesn’t look as realistic and believable as we want in this new game.”
Now, as for what Ada Wong WILL be wearing in the game, he won’t say, but he did say it will remain true to who Ada is:
“Exactly what we’ve done with her design is something we’re tight-lipped on, but it’s safe to say we won’t betray your expectations.”
The interview also revealed that characters like Sherry, who were very simplistic in the original game, have been given an upgrade too, as her opening scene is very different from the original game. If this is what fans can expect, then Resident Evil 2 Remake might just be better than the original.
