That action-RPG about vampires and morals called Vampyr is getting a TV show. Well, this was something absolutely no one saw coming.
What the hell is with people and TV spinoffs of video games? Is this the latest trend or something? First, we found out that Netflix is making a Witcher TV series. Oh yes, we forgot, Halo is also getting a TV series. These games are all great material for a TV series, don’t think that we’re hating on the people that want to realize their projects. We just think that all of these TV shows will miss the thing that made the games special.
Now, let’s get into the boring bits. The TV series rights were given to Fox 21. But, they are not the ones handling the adaptation. That is being done by the people over at DJ2 Entertainment. That name might sound familiar, as those are the same people that are working on a TV adaptation of Life is Strange.
The world of Vampyr really is interesting, and there are a lot of elements that can be explored in the TV series. If they want the adaptation to be true to the game, they will need to bring out the blood and the gore. Will that happen? We don’t know, but we sure hope it does. A Vampyr adaptation without all of the dark elements that make that world interesting would be a tragic waste.
