SMGs can be a pretty handy weapon when you’re dealing with an enemy that is close to you in Fortnite. But, it seems like they have been a little too effective, so Epic Games have shared with us some changes that they have made to these weapons.
Fortnite players aren’t too happy with the state of affairs when it comes to SMGs. You see, these are the weapons that should be effective at medium-to-close range. The further away your target is from you the lesser the chance that you’re going to get a kill. But, these weapons are much more powerful than they should be, and so a quick hotfix was released to address these issues.
Ok now, let’s get into the meaty part of the hotfix and see exactly what got changed. First, let’s start things off the accuracy bonus of the SMG and the Compact SMG, which got lowered from 35% to 15%. The damage of the SMG also got reduced from 19/20/21 to 17/18/19, while the damage of the Compact SMG got reduced from 23/24 to 21/22. The fire rate of these two weapons was also hit, so the SMG’s fire rate is now 12 instead of 13, and the Compact SMG’s fire rate is 10 instead of 11.
The range of these weapons was also lessened to 2000/3000/4000 instead of the usual 2400/3500/5000, which should now properly make them a short-range weapon.
