Anthem May Not Have Text Chat
For any game where you have multiple players playing together, you need to have a text chat. That is the simplest and most popular way of communication, but it seems like Anthem may not even have this feature, which is definitely an odd decision.
You can’t have an online game that doesn’t have text chat in it. Imagine a world where a game like World of Warcraft has no text chat. Can you even imagine something like that? Of course you can’t, as that sort of communication gives life to a game, and without it, well, the world might feel a bit too dead.
Brenon Holmes, the creative director from BioWare, answered some questions on a Reddit thread where players have been discussing various things. He said that they have all sorts of accessibility options that need to be implemented into the game. They need to support TTS for any in-game based chat, and that complicates a simple thing that is a text chat being implemented in the game.
As you can imagine, the people on this Reddit thread aren’t too happy with these answers. Honestly, as gamers that play MMO games from time to time, you can’t have a title like Anthem and not have text chat in it. It just doesn’t feel right, and if we’re forced to only have voice chat as a way of communicating with other players, that just won’t work for a lot of people.
