The remake of System Shock is one of the few things that we genuinely can’t guess if it’s going to be amazing or horrible. But, thanks to all of the updates that we’re getting from the developers, we see that they are going in the right direction. They are working hard on achieving their September milestone which they are calling the “Adventure Alpha”, which is a pretty cool name. It should feel like the original game but the difficulty is going to be zero so that you can wander around the place without enemies chasing you.
Fans of the original game will be happy to know that the Citadel Station in System Shock Remake is semi-complete, backers can look forward to picking up items, reading emails, and listening to audio logs. There are no enemies to spook you while you do this, so no need to worry. If you’re wondering what the picture above is, they said this:
We were expecting to have all the levels blocked out by September, but with no other details…however, Jonathan has been able to apply the textures from System Shock to Daniel’s BSP giving us an insightful look into the original game. The textures have been modified to take advantage of PBR rendering and lighting placed to mimic the original.
Basically, the image above is basically the original textures and not the finished art of System Shock Remake. There are also various other screenshots what you can view on their official post.
