Fallout 76 Designed To Protect Low-Level Characters

When Fallout 76 was revealed, everyone was excited for what was sure to be the next great Fallout experience. After all, Fallout 4 was a triumph in many ways. But, then, Bethesda revealed that this game would be much different than the others, mainly because 76 would feature an online world where players could interact, mingle, battle, etc. And it wouldn’t have a traditional singleplayer storyline. That worried players, as they weren’t sure how the world would treat all the players who were roaming around it.

Well, Bethesda’s Todd Howard did an interview with an Italian site (translated by PC Gamer), and he revealed some interesting information that you should probably know. For example, Howard noted that the game would protect players who were new to it. Specifically noting that in Fallout 76, if you were below Level 5, you could not be killed by enemy players. He also noted that this could be adjusted, depending on how development and testing went.

To be clear, PVP is optional in the game, but this safety makes it so that if you stumble into those areas, you won’t be harmed. A very welcome feature indeed. Another welcome feature is going to be fast traveling. The game is going to have 4x the amount of land as Fallout 4, which was pretty big if you recall. And Howard noted that because there will be no mounts or vehicles in the game, that fast traveling would be implemented.

There’s still a lot of questions out there about Fallout 76, but the pieces are starting to fall into place. The story is meant to be the “first” Fallout story, and the gameplay is slowly being revealed. Though we hope we get more insights into what we can and cannot do. All will be revealed eventually, as the game arrives on November 14th.
